Today is a heavy hearted post today, heavy with sadness and happiness - an inspiring young lady, Talia Joy Castellano age 13 went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 16th, 2013 of stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a frighteningly common cancer in young children. With her family and friends surrounding her at the hospital, Talia was once again able to be lifted up knowing that not just her family loved her, but also her many friends and supporters. Sadness is always apart of loss and death; sad that we will miss them, and not continue to share our lives with them. But there is also happiness - happiness that this beautiful young lady is now whole, free of disease and pain, no more cares or worries, and she will be there to welcome her friends and family when it is their time to rejoin her.
Talia courageously battled this horrible disease off and on for over 7 years with determination. She refused to allow her circumstances to distort her spirit or keep her from her goals and on her path to achieving her own goals, she simultaneously became a role model and source of inspiration and encouragement for many others to encourage them to reach their goals.

There are so many children and young people that suffer from the vicious and various forms of cancer, far more than we could know, but like so many others Talia's beauty and spirit far out shined her diagnosis and she knew that celebrating life is far more powerful that facing death, especially with friends and family that are there to lift you up along the way.
Today we remember Talia and celebrate her life with her last manicure, a beautiful mint polish she shared with her mom. This is mine, to remember and honor Talia.
This mani is two coats of Ethereal Lacquer in Mint Madness, topped with I Love Nail Polish's Party of Four, because I think Talia would like the sparkle. After reading about her memorial service, she didn't want anything sad about her service and wanted people to remember her with love and happiness. While the mint color is to remember her last manicure, the glitter is to remember the light that her heart brought into this life.
Many thoughts and prayers for family and friends that survive Talia - I hope that the good memories will help you find peace and comfort in this time of loss, and the inspiration Talia brought to so many will help to keep her spirit close to you.
