So here is my first manicure for this challenge.
I used two coats of Cult Nails Devious Nature as my base, then with some white and red acrylic paint mixed with Devious Nature I did a one stroke technique to make the flowers. A bit of yellow and green acrylic paint for the center and leaves, then I topped it off with a dab of Rainbow Honey's Sakura Matsuri for glitter effect, and sealed it up with a one good coat of Wicked Fast top coat.
I also entered this in the Cult Nails Nail Art Contest :-)

Magical Musings - Muggles

Happy Hump Day everyone!!
As I'm sitting here attempting to focus on my blog post, I received a very exciting email from Lac Attack. Their Facebook Page just posted an announcement that the next restock along with their Spring Collection will be available April 3, at 7:00pm EST. Her store LacAttack.com and now Harlow & Co are your sources for Lac Attack polishes.
Today I have Muggles from her Magical Musings Collection - I snagged it from Harlow & Co on their very first stocking of Lac Attack.
Muggles is a beautiful glitter in a clear suspension base with fabulous shreds of silver, bright pink, dark purple and teal. In these photos, I've used two coats of Muggles over one coat of Sinful Colors in Dream On. Application is great, you do have to dab the glitter and manipulate it around, but that's not unexpected or unreasonable for a glitter topper. The best part is, absolutely no fishing, each dip and swipe into the bottle brings such lovely glitter goodness to your hearts content - no non magic dullness here - this polish is sure to spark your magic touch.

Nerd Lacquer......... Continued

Annnddd the Nerd Lacquer obsession continues. Today I have Event Horizon and Nebula to show you.
I continue to be impressed with Nerd Lacquers formula, it's so wonderful to work with and have on my nails.
We shall start with Event Horizon, which is a beautiful dark teal jelly with silver, gold, blue, green, and holographic glitter. Event has the perfect consistency, and could be opaque if you wanted to use just one thick application, but being the polish snob I am, I applied two and sealed it off with two coats of HK Girl. Even with two coats of top coat, there was a slight texture to this polish, which I do like.

Nebula is another interstellar beauty; boasting a purple/red base Nebula pops up from outer space with  reds, pinks, and silver glitters, with some holo for extra oomph with a flawless formula. No issue with application and clean up was perfect, the base doesn't seem to stain if a mess is made.  It' will most certainly leave you starstruck with it's endless depth. My ring finger has two coats of Nebula, with two coats of HK Girl. Nebula has the same texture as Event Horizon, so if you're wanting a smooth finish, be prepared to use two or three coats of top coat. Again, I was content to just use two as it gave me the lovely deep shine I wanted but left some of the texture.

Nerd Lacquer can be found HERE and I believe that her next estimated restock is on or around April 15th - at least that's what I understood from the Google + page she's on.
If you decide to brave the restock - may the polish force be with you!!!

Ruby White Tips - Sweet Cornelius

St. Patrick's Day may be over, but you're still in luck - with another gorgeous polish from Ruby White Tips called Sweet Faced Cornelius from her Bat World Sanctuary Collection. The Bat World Sanctuary is a refuge for bats that cannot be released back into the wild from either injury, orphaned, or bats that were captured and sold illegally. Fifty percent of Sweet Cornelius proceeds go to the Sanctuary, along with several others of Ruby White Tips Bat World Sanctuary Collection.

Cornelius is a clear suspension based polish with brilliant emerald and gold flakes, with emerald glitter. This little guy can be worn solo - being opaque in about 3-4 coats.
In the first two photos, Cornelius is featured on his own. First finger is one regular coat, middle finger is two regular coats, ring finger is three coats, and the pinkie is four, all topped with one coat of HK Girl. The formula for Cornelius is just wonderful, it's thick enough to keep hold of all those lovely glitters and flakes but still applies perfectly, and dries very well, with a slight texture to it. I do recommend to apply carefully, cause clean up is always interesting with polish with such small flakes and glitter, however, that fact would never stop me from buying a polish I wanted.

Now I love Cornelius nude, it's most definitely a beautiful polish. But I have to be honest, I really loved this as a topper, specifically over black. This fabulous combination is one coat of Ulta's Little Black Dress with one good coat of Sweet Cornelius, and two coats of HK Girl.
This is Cornelius over one coat of Sinful Colors Mint Apple. I really loved this one too. It's so light and spring time-ish.
Ruby White Tips can be found here on Etsy - I promise you will not regret peeking at her shop and you won't be able to leave it without some polished amaingness!!  I'm happy to admit that I was lusting after B.B, Kiddo and P. Wagon from her shop long before I got my hands on Cornelius.

Nerd Lacquer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my friends, if I died tomorrow, I would die a content polish addict. For polish gods have smiled upon my mouse-clicking finger during the epic madness that was the Nerd Lacquer restock, and I snagged I Aim To Misbehave, Shiny, Nebula and Event Horizon!
Today I have I Aim To Misbehave and Shiny for you. It was so hard to choose which polishes to try first, and I couldn't just try one!!
I've recently acquired a fondness for Butter London's Nail Foundation base coat, I really love how well it keeps polishes from staining and I do believe that it does help the polish adhere to my nail. More than likely a majority of my posts with polish will begin with this foundation; one coat of Nailtiques Formula 2 and one coat of Butter London's Nail Foundation base coat. That being stated, ON TO THE POLISH!
I Aim To Misbehave is a stunning red/purple jelly that glints with shades of blue micro glitter and burgundy pink and silver medium hex glitter. The photo on the left is two coats (though it was opaque in 1) with two thick coats of HK Girl. Photo on the left is a macro on my nail. WARNING, VERY LARGE MACROS BELOW!!! :-)
For those not familiar with the origins of the name of this amazing polish, it comes from the Sci-Fi hit TV series Firefly, and the clip from this polish's name sake can be seen  HERE,

And while IATM is truly a magnificent color, I am a bluey at heart and could not resist Shiny. This clear sky blue is beyond mega packed with shimmer, small and medium silver glitters in square and hex shapes. Both of these polishes apply without any issues and dry quickly, with a slight texture to them. If you're not a texture gal/guy, a couple of coats of a good top coat should do the trick. I used two regular coats of HK Girl on IATM and Shiny.
I'm kind of hard on my nails, and one thing that's important to me when I'm buying polish, especially indie polish since it tends to be more expensive,  is how long it lasts on my nails. Granted, everyone has different body chemistry and some polishes don't do as well as others for some as others, but I do believe that when a polish can last for several days, it makes a statement towards the quality of a polish, and the top coat for that matter. I've come to believe that a decent base coat and top coat are essential for a stable mani, but there also has to be a good polish to be sandwiched in between. I am very happy to report that 4 days of battling dish washing with gloves, showers, hair washing, 3 days of home cooked meals, office work and general wear and tear, there is virtually no tip wear.
Nerd Lacquer's website can be found HERE and on Google + - I recommend keeping a close eye on the Google + page. Apparently the actual comment about the restock date was in some comments, not an actual post.
Happy Friday everyone!! xxoo

Springtime Nail Art

Happy Hump Day everyone!!!
I have a lovely spring inspired mani for you today, courtesy of MissJenFABULOUS on YouTube. If you click on her name, it will take you to the mani she created, which inspired mine.
For my mani, I started with a regular coat of Sinful Colors in Sugar Rush. Then, as described in the video tutorial, I dabbed on SC Mint Apple, Unicorn, Sweet Tooth, Sugar N Spice in drops on my nails then used a plastic sandwich bag which I laid over the wet polish drops and dabbed once or twice with my fingers. I worked one nail at a time. And because I'm silly, I forgot to actually take a photo of the finished water color on it's own. Any-who, I was really pleased with the result and I'm looking forward to doing it again with different polishes.

Here's a cool macro shot, it gives a better sense of the water color background.

I topped this off with a quick coat of Posche top coat, then after that tried, I applied Sparkles by Julie in Sugah!. Topped with Posche again, and voila! How light and Spring-y it is!

St Patty's Day

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a lucky St. Patty's Day (for those that do celebrate SPD) and for those that don't, I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Today is a belated post, as I had intended to post it yesterday (ahhh, good intentions.........) but ever onward with the posts, and today I have two manis to show you, with a hint of a review.
First up is my first St. Patty's Day manicure that I did which is kind of Frankenstein of spring/easter/st pattys day. lol
I started with a thick coat of Sinful Color's Sugar Rush, which is a simply beautiful light cotton candy cream blue. This applied wonderfully, and was mostly opaque with this one coat, clean up was easy and no staining.
Then I did a gradient with SC's Cotton Candy and Orange Cream and added a little sparkle with Orly's Shine On Crazy Diamond.
And as I was loading my pictures on PicMonkey to edit, I discovered that the picture I took in my light box of the finished mani didn't end up in my camera roll on my iPhone, yet one that I did later that day to show some friends did. So this is the final mani, I used China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise to stamp with Shanty pate 12, then filled in the stamp to make it bigger, and applied a crystal from a Stella pack I got from a birthday nail mail.

Ok, now for the real deal St Patty's Day mani. Prepare your jaws my lovlies, cause I used two coats of Space Junk by  Nail Sauce  (from her last release; yeah baby, I was smokin fast on that checkout button) with three coats of Cult Nails Blaze on my ring finger. I used my handy dandy SH-12 stamping plate with Sinful Color's Snow Me White to stamp my thumb, ring finger, and pinkie, which I filled in with SMW on my pinkie and thumb, while filing in my ring finger with Sinful Color's Mint Apple.
My top coat of choice for this mani was two luscious coats of Posche.
What did you all do for your St. Patty's Day mani? Post a link in your comments, I want to check them out! :-)

I Got Distracted........by Cult Nail Polish

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I've been kind of on a dark polish streak these days, and when I saw I Got Distracted produced by Cult Nails, I knew I had to have it. I'm not usually a green polish girl (Space Junk is an exception), but this polish delivers in full on it's name - it will constantly distract you! I wore it to work and was constantly glancing at my fingertips! It didn't help my distraction that I received many compliments on it. ;-)
The picture on the left is my favorite bottle shot - it sums up I Got Distracted perfectly, it's like a green nebula in a bottle!.
Filled to the brim with holographic goodness, IGD starts with a black polish base, adding emerald hex glitter to make the holo pop. It has a great formula with just the right thickness to hold plenty of glitter and holo, and dries with a very slight texture to it, in my opinion. All three of these pictures features two coats of I Got Distracted with no top coat.
Then I decided to play with Koi Pond from Rainbow Honey. Shortly after the photo on the left, I bumped my middle finger creating a chip/smudge, and so on went Koi Pond to that one as well and I love the combination!

Here is a lovely macro shot of I Got Distracted - it's such an alluring polish. This polish also stood up very well against general wear and tear. I applied one coat of Wicked Fast top coat, and it lasted three days on my nails, with minimal tip wear, with regular activity, i.e. showers, dishes, and so on.

Wink Wink - How About A Little Midnight Delight

Happy Friday everyone!!!!
I don't know about you, but I'm SOOOOOO ready for the weekend!!! I think we need to change the work week - three day work, 4 days off! Who's with me?!?
Well my friends, I'm going to start your Friday out right cause I have a new polish for you from 6 Harts Polish, who can be found on Facebook and Etsy.
This is Midnight Delight - a deep plumb with occasional silver and gold glitters. Midnight makes you think black at first, then you see the true purple color - but wait! It get's better! MD has a fabulous shimmer in the sunlight to suddenly hypnotize you!!
Warning! This polish may suddenly cause you to pause mid function in awe at it's color and shimmer delay the completion of tasks and work due to it's amazingness!!!!!!

Look at that shimmer!!!!!!! Look at that Purple!!!

Rhapsody in Blue Holo Glitter - LynBDesigns, Space Gandalf

Good morning!
I'm on a roll today - I have another amazing indie polish for you, LynBDesigns in Space Gandalf.
LynBDesigns can be found on her Etsy Shop and Facebook, and has an amazing variety of polishes. She's not just a glitter/holo bomb supplier, she's got jellies, shimmers, sheers, pinks, purples, greens, blues and whites. Oh my, I think another of her polishes just accidentally jumped into my shopping cart........darn those tricksy polishes! (blog post security, thanks LynB!)
Did I mention she also has jewelry and perfumes? Yeah, it's a dangerously fabulous place to be, my friends, you shan't escape without something you fancy! Oh and did I mention she's having a sale? Uh, yeah, she's having a sale kids, check it out on Etsy....... Dangerously.Fabulous. 'Nuf said.

ON TO THE POLISH!!
Seriously, I think Space Gandalf is my ultimate glitter/holo right now. I think I've said that about a couple of other polishes too, but seriously, I can't choose. It would be like making me choose between chocolates and caramels - not gonna happen - just depends on what kind of a day it is as to which I choose- but I love them all equally.
Space Gandalf is a stunning deep navy base with a plethora of silver holo glitter. There are silver micro, fine, shreds of holo glitter and to top it all off, silver moons! Application was fabulous, it's not as thick as I had expected, but it's the perfect consistency to hold everything together while making it totally manageable on your nails. This is three coats but I think two would make it opaque. I wanted three to really show off the depth of the color and glitter and topped it off with one coat of Poshe top coat.
Now I was really happy with my photos, I think it's the best capture I could get, but honestly this is another polish that photos just don't do it justice.
I would also like to let you know that I added another coat of Poshe to this right after I was done taking pics which continued to compliment this polish - and best of all - I wore it for four days which included housework and showers with hardly any tip wear. (see photo bottom right) Not to shabby!!

Holy Glitzology Ballz!

Happy Monday everyone!! Yes, I've had enough cups of coffee that I can say that without a completely dirty look, and am managing to sound more like Lurch with my 'hmmmmmmmmmmmm' as opposed to the snarling and gnashing of teeth sans a werewolf. (no disrespect Jacob)
Hey! Speaking of Jacob - Who pulled a midnight run for the new release of Breaking Dawn, Pt 2 Friday???!?!! Or were you a clever vamp and pre-ordered it??!? I haven't been able to watch it yet (gasp, I know I know, I'm a total pseudo-Twlighter) so no spoilers please!
Ok, done with the jabbering of NPR - on to the good stuff.

Switch fantasies my friends, because today I have for you Glitzology's Baby Dragon!!

Isn't it cute??!!! Baby Dragon consists of a clear suspension base packed (and I mean, you gotta sweep some glitter off the brush before applying kinda packed)  with bright fuchsia hex, matte purple shreds and bright green shreds to really bring out a dragon scale effect. This is one thick coat of Baby Dragon over Zoya's Zuza and a top coat of Cult's Wicked Fast. Application was fantastic, there was no glitter fishing here. The formula is a bit thick, but I think I've stated before that I'm starting to like that in my glitter polishes a bit thicker, for me it makes it so much easier to manipulate the glitters and get the look I want.
Glitzology can be found on her Etsy Store and on Facebook - she's got just about every color of glitter you can find, there's bound to be something you like there!

Pinky Winky Nail Art

Happy Saturday my lovlies! I hope you've been able to kick off your weekend with some stellar polish and manis!

I was feeling like pink the other day and did a little brainstorming as to what to make with some new polishes I got in, and this is what I came up with. It's all free hand, and I was pretty happy with it.
This is two coats of ManGlaze's Lesbihonest, tipped in China Glaze Tranzition in Split Perso-Nail-ity and melded with ManGlaze's Matte Is Murder. I used China Glaze First and Last top coat to edge Split at the tips and used a dotting tool to along the V of Matte Is Murder.
ManGlaze is amazing, the formula was perfect, super easy to apply and clean up - love love love - can't wait to try the others!!
Photo on the left is a bit darker for you to see the color and texture of Lesbihonest, it is a stunning fuchsia. They can be found on their own website, ManGlaze Matte Nail Polish ManGlaze Facebook or on ManGlaze Amazon.
I wasn't super impressed with the Tranzitions, however, since it wasn't on my whole nail(s) this may not have been the best experience to have with it. I'm going to try again and I'll post about that one soon.
What's on YOUR nails this weekend?!? Post a link so I can check em out! :-)

Whimsical Ideas by Pam, Part 2 - Eloise

Have I mentioned that I like Whimsical Ideas by Pam? I reeaaalllllyyyyy like Whimsical Ideas by Pam, so today, I have Eloise to show you. You can find her lovely creations on her Facebook Page

Eloise is a beautiful topper that starts with a clear suspension base, with matte glitter in medium pink hex, large white hex and large round black glitter. This little beauty is best shaken gently and dabbed onto your nail then manipulating the glitters where you please. It's such a versatile topper, Eloise is a perfect name for this polish, it does make me think of the character, ready for excitement and no time for boring people!
Here I have layered one coat of Eloise over Butter London's The Black Knight and no top coat. I was really pleased how long these both lasted without top coats, I was good to go for about two and a half days without hardly any tip wear and no chipping. This is probably one of my favorite combinations for a mani.
