The Moxie Project: With Love From Washington

Hello friends, it's been awhile since my last post, school has been keeping me really busy!

But I have a review and some really cool nail art for you today.
I first came upon this video from Robin Moses YouTube from the Photos with Moxie blog. It's a touching and heartfelt story that you should see for yourself, if you click on either link, you'll discover what a moving story it is. Maybe, you'll be inspired to do your own Photos with Moxie nail art.
First part of this post, the review.
My sweet friend Amy sent me some polishes from Silly Bee's Chickadees and first up is Velvet Violet.
VV is a beautiful grape purple, with a fabulously subtle shimmer that tries to trick you, and dries a beautiful waxy finish. This is two coats, with no top coat. Formula was great to work with, great coverage, brush was a great shape and size and held the polish well and flushed out properly when I applied the polish. Try time is good, and clean up is easy.
Don't pay any attention to my middle finger, I used some Orly Nail Repair to try and hold a tear from getting worse and I didn't realize I hadn't smoothed it properly before I applied the polish.
Here is Velvet Violet outside, with indirect sunlight. Isn't it lovely! There's a fabulous subtle shimmer to the polish that really doesn't show itself properly in the photos.
I decided that Velvet Violet would be the perfect base for some Robin Moses inspired art so this one is inspired by Photos with Moxie - absolutely sweet little sweet peas in a pod with lovely vines.
With stunning polish as my base, I used acrylic paints to follow the video of Robin Moses on YouTube and recreate the sweet manicure and think of Moxie, sending good thoughts to her family.

Not to shabby on the left hand, though naturally not being my dominant hand it's a sloppier, I'm pretty happy with the results considering this is the first attempt. But that's the best thing about acrylic paints, all you gotta do is dip a little cotton qtip or cotton ball in water and wipe it off. It's the greatest thing ever!!

My tribute to Moxie. Thinking of you and your family!
