There's no fishing here kiddos, this polish packs a glitter punch you will love! this is two coats, all on its own by the way, and one coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat. Formula is amazing, as usual. Use regular coats and let it dry, about 30-45 seconds in between each coat for the best results.

You won't feel so guilty about being a bad girl when you've got this lovely glitter topper on your fingertips - it's so beautiful, Naughty List can't really be THAT naughty, can it? This beauty starts with a clear suspension base and small, red round glitters. Application is perfect, and I daresay that you could probably make it opaque in about three coats if it's all you wanted to wear (ohh my! But really, who could blame you, and what a smashing outfit that would be for a special someone ;-D) Pictured here is one healthy coat over Snowmen Do It Right, and a top coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl.
This lovely little fella is Jack Frost - a crisp winter blue shimmer. This is two coats with Glisten and Glow's HK Girl.

Spooktacular! I Got Tagged - Your Turn!

Woohoooo I got tagged by Michelle at Lacquer or Leave Her! to do a Spooktacular blog post; I'm guessing it's like You've Been Booed but for bloggers! How fun!! Thanks for tagging me, Michelle!! :-)

Ok, here we go:

1) Do you still Trick or Treat?

Nope. I've actually never been Trick or Treating myself when I was little, we didn't celebrate Halloween. Up until my daughter was old enough to have fun with it, I had some really bad experiences with Halloween when people have taken it too far.

2) Do you like to go to haunted attractions?

Um, no, I'm a big 'fraidy cat and don't like haunted attractions. Which is odd, because my best friend LOVES to be scared. Needless to say, we don't do the Halloween thing together ;-)

3) Favorite Halloween treat you look forward to getting?

I like candy corn, but my favorites are the exotic caramel apples that the gourmet stores around here do during fall/Halloween.

4) Favorite Halloween Movie?

Hmm...probably the closest actual Halloween movie would be Practical Magic.

5) Favorite scary movie?

Hands down, Mindhunters; fabulous psych thriller.

6) Favorite costume as a child?

Didn't have any costumes!

7) A costume you would like to dress up as if you could go back to your childhood?

A vampire

8) Do you decorate your house for Halloween?

We do some decorations, but usually fun, silly ones as my daughter can be a little sensitive about real scary things.

9) Do you have a festive background for your phone or computer?

I do actually, on my phone!! For someone who's not all into Halloween, I'm on top of it!! lol

10) What are your plans for this Halloween night?

I anticipate that I'll be taking my daughter Trick or Treating - hopefully not in the rain :-)

11) If you have a pet, what would you like to dress it up as? (If you don't, you can say your brother or sister or other family member)

I have a dog, but she's old and doesn't take kindly to being dressed up, although my daughter has been BEGGING me to let her dress her up. I MAY relent, but it's definitely going to have to depend on the costume.

12) What is your least favorite sweets you would never want to receive when you go Trick or Treating?

Hmmmmm, I don't think there is such a thing?!?!? Just wait, I'll have to amend this post after Halloween after we find some unholy, sorry excuse for a sweet in my daughters bag. lol

13) Favorite Halloween decoration?

I like the goofy skeleton vinyl and jelly clings we find at the dollar store - I'm a cheap scare. lol

14) Favorite Halloween song?

THRILLER!! I'm totally old school music lover, and it's M.J...who can compare?!?!

15) Favorite Halloween makeup look (post a picture if you can)

I really like Sugar Skulls, if I had the chance, I would want this:

While mine wasn't as exciting as Michelle's, it was a lot of fun to do a Spooktacular post.
I'm going to carry on the general tag, whomever wants to play is welcome, and here are a few specific tags:

Hope you all have fun with it like I did! Don't forget to leave me your blog post link so I can check out your Spooktacular too!! :-)

Tread Lightly...

Quick additional post with another of Ruby White Tips Breaking Bad Collection.
This fabulous grape jelly holo is Tread Lightly.

The formula for this bad boy is what you'd expect from Ruby White Tips, FABULOUS!! These pictures feature three regular coats with HK Girl from Glisten & Glow. Check out those holos!?!?
I did notice when I removed it that it left a slight pinky tint to my nail beds and cuticles, more towards the cuticle area. I didn't notice any on the free edge of my nail and it seemed to lighten with a little Dawn dish detergent and baking soda, then I didn't notice it at all a few hours later. To me, this is in no way a deal breaker. I mean I own Zoya Liberty and Zuzu - 'nuf said, right? Yeah, a little pink ain't stopping me from using this beauty!!

Don't forget that Ruby White Tips is having their pre-sale of this polish and 3 others from the Breaking Bad Collection. The rest will be released on September 13th! Go get 'em! Hurry!!!!

Breaking Bad....'I AM the Danger'

So I'm not gonna lie, I just didn't get into Breaking Bad. I know, I'm a lame-o, I can't help it.
But I do love polishes (DUH) and the great and powerful Laura at Ruby White Tips (whose polishes I am particularly fond of) is about to release her new Breaking Bad Collection containing 10 polishes, and let me tell you my polish loving friend - it is and EPIC collection!!! Pre-Sale begins September 6th and the collections release date is September 13th on her Etsy Store. You won't want to miss it, there's polishes in there for everyone. And you might want to grab a cup of coffee, tea or soda cause this is going to be a looonnngggg post and get ready, cause there's loads of nail porn.
Honestly, I had the hardest time trying to decide which photo to put up first, cause frankly I love them all, and these are just a few out of the collection. But, as I will probably always revert to my love of blue polish, so the blueys are up first.
First up is That Blue Stuff, a lively blue jelly with holographic glitters that make it pop. While it is a shade or two darker than it's namesake, it is no less addictive and desirable.
Here I have three regular coats with a top coat of Star Crushed Lacquer's High Shine Top Coat. That Blue Stuff has a great formula, it's thick enough to hold plenty of glitter in each coat but applies evenly and smoothly; dry time is also quick, I waited about 2-3 minutes in between each coat and had no troubles with it.
While That Blue Stuff is a shade or two darker than it's namesake, it is no less addictive and desirable.

This is in sunlight outside. You can see how the color becomes that much more vibrant.
Yeah, these photos don't do it justice.
And by the way, I just want you to know that there was no staining from this blue. Just thought I'd throw that in there. ;-)

Next up is Say My Name - an uplifting color, for a rather heavy episode in the Breaking Bad series.
Say My Name is a brilliant, light robin's egg blue with micro holo glitter to just take your breath away. This is two regular coats with a top coat of HK Girl from Glisten & Glow. Again the formula was fabulous and dry time was great!

It's The Bomb, Yo is a crazy cool glitter topper starting with a clear suspension base, with holo glitter, small and medium round, square and hex teal glitters with a few large round glitters and shards floating through there to make the ultimate glitter bomb topper. In this photo, I've used it over Ulta's Little Black Dress on my pointer finger, two coats with no undies on my middle finger, one coat over Say My Name on my ring, and one coat with no undies on my pinky all topped off with one coat of HK Girl from Glisten & Glow.

And this little beauty is Hell Yeah Science! Cause we all know science rocks especially when it gives us such fabulous polishes!!
Hell Yeah Science! is a beautiful chocolate holo polish, with a slight pinky/purple shift to it. The formula is outstanding, this is two regular coats with no undies and HK Girl from Glisten & Glow to seal it all in one happy bundle.

This is Hell Yeah Science in sunlight. Pictures do not do it justice!

Now, last but definitely not least of these polishes is Breakage; an amazing deep forest green that shifts to a purplish brown. As you see in these photos, it was originally called Solar System, but Laura has since changed this polish to Breakage, and it's sister polish, Cancer Within, a lighter version of Breakage.

 Breakage in the sunlight
This is the pair, Breakage which you see above, and it's sister polish, Cancer Within, a lighter version.

Well my lovies, these are just a few of the amazing polishes from Ruby White Tips new Breaking Bad Collection. Her Pre-Sale begins tomorrow, September 6th. You won't want to miss it!
Ciao everyone! Happy almost end of the week!! :-)

*These polishes were sent to me by Ruby White Tips for review*

Pomegranate Panic

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful, safe holiday weekend! I sure did, got to hang out with the hubby and kiddo, went for a scenic train ride and finally got to see Despicable Me 2. It's so fun to have a sequel that's almost as funny as the original one, I love the Minions!!!
Have you seen their Banana Song?!? Oh man, this song has the potential to be worse than the Hamster Dance! Don't watch it if you're not prepared to hum it for the rest of the day!!!

Ok, on to serious polish business now. Today I have yet another amazing polish from Star Crushed Lacquers.
This is Pomegranate. A beautiful, easy red, with a slight orange tint to it and lovely micro glitters that really set off this color. The formula applies easily, I didn't have to thin this one down.
One of the best parts is I was really pleased to see that it didn't stain my nails when I removed it.
I've been really happy with all the polishes from Star Crushed Lacquers, none have stained or been difficult to remove, yet they last really well under my wear and tear.
This is two coats of Pomegranate and Star Crushed Lacquer's High Shine Top Coat.
Have I mentioned how much I love their top coat!?!?!

Star Crushed Lacquers can be found on Etsy, Facebook and Instagram @starcrushedminerals. Be sure to check them out, I think her Labor Day sale is still going on - but hurry, it will be over soon!!

Check out that sparkle?!?!?!

Back on the Blog!

Wow THAT was an unexpected hiatus from my blog! Summer semester in college really kicked my butt - and it was only one class!!! I'm such a sissy! lol

I'm also really shocked to see that I have lost any followers! Thanks so much for sticking with me everyone! I'm hoping to get back in to the swing of things again, with regular blog posts.

Kicking this one off right, with another stunning polish from Star Crushed Lacquers.
This beautiful gem is Black Garnet: a fabulous, deep vamped up chocolate red shimmer. This is two coats with Star Crushed Lacquer Top Coat. One coat probably would have done it, but I like putting two coats on! :-)

If you recall from my last post (ages and ages ago) regarding the formula of the Star Crushed Lacquers, I added a few drops of Seche Vite polish thinner because the polish was a bit thick for my taste.
I'm very pleased to report that the thinner is holding with the polish, no separating or weird bubbling. Application of Black Garnet was flawless, and clean up was amazing! I didn't have any staining of the color on my cuticles when I cleaned up with the acetone and clean-up brush.
Black Garnet is just one of the many polishes that Star Crushed Lacquer has to offer, and she's constantly adding new colors, so be sure to check back often! She's also still running her Grand Opening sale (last I checked as of 8.21.13) and  you can get Black Garnet and many other full size polishes for around $4.50!!! I think a few more polishes might have accidentally slipped into my shopping cart while I'm writing this post. Ooops!! Oh well! ;-)

Until next time my lovely readers!

Stay tuned for an up coming raffle with a couple of really great prizes!!

Star struck for Star Crushed Lacquer

'So starstruck, baby can you blow my heart up?
I'm so starstruck...'    Are you totally stuck on that song now?!? Gonna hear if for the rest of the day, aren't cha! HA!

Well my friends, I've been away for awhile due to school obligations, but I'm on the home stretch of that (THANK HEAVEN!) so I'll be able to get back to more pleasant computer work i.e. nails and blogging!!! Weeee!

Today's post is the introduction of a new polish brand and line. I was so excited to be able to purchase during her launch, and I have to say that the lovely owner of StarCrushed Lacquers has some really great things going on.
I have for you today, Magenta with an accent nail of Turquoise from Star Crushed Lacquers on Etsy.
Magenta is a fabulously luscious and striking magenta purple polish with a perfect amount of small holo glitter, giving you a rainbow to match your polish.
First up, I noticed that the formula didn't hardly require any shaking, the pigment was even throughout the bottle, both from the outside view and when I took the lid off. This was in a full size 15ml bottle.
When I first opened Magenta, the formula was really thick and while I did give it a go initially, I decided that it was too thick and added a few drops of Seche Vite polish thinner. (which I might add, that I was VERY nervous using on an indie polish, but so far so good with my bottles)  I added a few drops, shook it thoroughly and added a few more, shook it again - baby I was in business! Now having said that, I kinda like thicker polish, so I left it fairly thick by some other indie formula standards, but still properly flowable. As of this post, I haven't thinned it out anymore and as I'm checking the consistency now, it's held to the thickness I left it at on Friday.
So once I got it thinned out a bit, the formula was pure perfection, my friends, pure perfection. It went on fairly evenly but self leveled like a champ where I was unsteady and impatient with my strokes. Dry time was above average time and  dries a bit matte-ish look and with texture due to the ever so dashing sparkles.
Now honestly, at that point, I actually kind of wanted to leave it like that, and I decided against taking a picture of that stage at this point (because I have 2 other SCLs to show you) and because in my order the sweet lady at StarCrushed Lacquers included a sample bottle of her top coat, and I was excited to try it.
My friends, I had fallen deeply in love with my Poshe top coat; deeply. I love HK Girl from Glisten & Glow for sure, but when I'm in a rush, I always use Poshe because it dries way faster and it's meant to be used on wet polish.

Oh my sweet readers, I think my beloved may have Poshe met its match with SCL's High Shine top coat. (which by the way is also 3-free) The top coat applied perfectly; it was thick but applied slick as a whistle, leveled out without questions, and dried to the touch in 3 minutes. About 2 1/2 hours later, my nails didn't even have that 'wet but stable' feel to it. And as I'm typing this post out on Monday night, there's minimal tip wear which has come from dishes, the cleaning of the kitchen and living room for family, a BBQ prep, cleanup, showers, kiddos baths, laundry and my dreaded final project paper due on Saturday. Yes, I think this new High Shine top coat and are at the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Ok so I got a little lost in the wondrous shiny that is the top coat, and while I'm not going to do a complete review on Turquoise, I will say that it is a beautiful shade of blue, with the same sparklies as Magenta. But more on that in another post. You'll just have to be starstruck with this one for now ;-)
You can find Star Crushed Lacquers on Etsy - they've still got some great sales on their polishes going on, you won't want to miss it!
Until next time friends! Ciao!

Mint for Talia #mintmanifortaliajoy

Good morning everyone,

Today is a heavy hearted post today, heavy with sadness and happiness - an inspiring young lady, Talia Joy Castellano age 13 went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 16th, 2013 of stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a frighteningly common cancer in young children. With her family and friends surrounding her at the hospital, Talia was once again able to be lifted up knowing that not just her family loved her, but also her many friends and supporters. Sadness is always apart of loss and death; sad that we will miss them, and not continue to share our lives with them. But there is also happiness - happiness that this beautiful young lady is now whole, free of disease and pain, no more cares or worries, and she will be there to welcome her friends and family when it is their time to rejoin her.
Talia courageously battled this horrible disease off and on for over 7 years with determination. She refused to allow her circumstances to distort her spirit or keep her from her goals and on her path to achieving her own goals, she simultaneously became a role model and source of inspiration and encouragement for many others to encourage them to reach their goals.
Talia Joy on YouTube Angels for Talia - Facebook and Talia on Twitter are some great sites that you can see more of Talia.
There are so many children and young people that suffer from the vicious and various forms of cancer, far more than we could know, but like so many others Talia's beauty and spirit far out shined her diagnosis and she knew that celebrating life is far more powerful that facing death, especially with friends and family that are there to lift you up along the way.
Today we remember Talia and celebrate her life with her last manicure, a beautiful mint polish she shared with her mom. This is mine, to remember and honor Talia.

This mani is two coats of Ethereal Lacquer in Mint Madness, topped with I Love Nail Polish's Party of Four, because I think Talia would like the sparkle. After reading about her memorial service, she didn't want anything sad about her service and wanted people to remember her with love and happiness. While the mint color is to remember her last manicure, the glitter is to remember the light that her heart brought into this life.
Many thoughts and prayers for family and friends that survive Talia - I hope that the good memories will help you find peace and comfort in this time of loss, and the inspiration Talia brought to so many will help to keep her spirit close to you.

BASE Camp Children's Cancer Foundation is the foundation that Talia support and who helped support her. BASE Camp is dedicated to supporting children with cancer and hematological illnesses and their families - they recognize the importance of whole family support during these stressful times. Donations can be made on their website.
