PCFC June 29th - Underneath The Stars

This was a really fun mani to do. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it, but after I glimpsed at my Kindle skin, Van Gogh's Stary Night, I was determined to attempt a similar look.I mixed some of the Wet n Wild in I Need A Refresh-Mint with Pure Ice in French Kiss, NYC Long Wearing in French Tip White and NYC Long Wearing in Black Lace then painted it on with an artist flat tapered brush. I then took some of the same colors separately to swirl around with a dotting tool to give it that 'oil' look, and a small swish of NYC Long Wearing in Times Square Tangarine to give it more of a dusk look. I made 'star' dots with Fing'rs nail polish in silver (picked up in a nail art kit in USA Drug)
I'm pretty pleased how it turned out! :-)

More dots, just because I love them so!

I couldn't help go back to my dots. My sister had a China Glaze in Make An Entrance that I had to try, and wasn't disappointed. It only took 1 coat for it to be opaque and since I'm going fishing in the morning, I didn't want my mani too thick. Then added Sally Hansen in Mellow Yellow and Sinful Colors in 24/7 for the dots. A coat of Seche Vite sealed the deal.

PCFC June 30th - Summer Water Marble

This one was alot of fun, and went fairly fast. I decided not to put a base coat on, as the colors were bright enough I felt they would do well on their own.
I used Sally Hansen in Mellow Yellow
NYC Long Wearing in Times Square Tangarine Ceme
Sinful Colors in 24/7
with a light coat of Orly in Shine On Crazy Dimond (it works really well as a top coat)
I messed up a litte on my ring finger, I think I lifted my finger out of the water too quickly.

PCFC June 27th - Blue+Aqua+Green

This was my first attempt at using tape to make something different. The tape was cool, and easy to work with, I just need more practice at it.
My base coat was Wet n Wild megalast in I Need A Refresh-Mint. I used 2 coats and wasn't really happy with the way it went on. The brush was really big and bulky although the polish itself was really smooth, the brush was a bit awkward.
Fpr the tips/chevrons I used Pure Ice in French Kiss
Dots (told you I was on a dot spree) was Sinful Colors Nail Art in Worn Before

PCFC - June 26th, Wimbledon

I'm really into dots these days, and I'm not sure why - it just looks nice to me. :-)
Here's my Wimbledon!
Started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow,
White dots in NYC French White Tip
Green dots in Sinful Colors Nail Art in Worn Before

PCFC - June 23 Picnic

Here is my Purple Fairy Crumpet Challenge for Picnic. To me, it's just classic that there is red and white for the picnic blanket, but I figured I would do dots instead of blocks/squares.
I started with 2 coats of NYC Big Apple Red, 1 would have been enough for opacity and I loved how well it applied and covered but I wanted 2 coats.
Dots are NYC in French White Tip and topped off with 1 coat of the Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond.

Way behind - and another haul

Oh my goodness, this week has flown by and I'm so behind on my challenges!! :-( I really hadn't intended to neglect them as I have, but I'm starting to catch up now.
Found some great polishes in USA Drug and Walgreens, I just couldn't resist.
Left to Right: The first one is Wet n Wild megalast in I Need a Refresh-Mint
The second pic is some Sinful Colors Nail Art in Sour Grapes, Worn Before, A Slice To Go
Third is Sinful Colors in 24/7
Fourth is Wet n Wild Fastdry in Everybody Loves Redmond
The last one is my sisters (which might accidentally get thrown in with my polishes)  Orly in Shine On Crazy Diamond

June Vacation Haul

So my husband, daughter and I are on vacation visit family in Missouri and Arkansas - while I was a good girl and prepared 3 of the mani's for the Purple Fairy Crumpet Challenge, I was also prepared for the fact that becuase both sets of families live in really small towns, with little cell phone coverage and even worse internet, I probably wouldn't be able to upload anything for the next week and a half, (not to mention I left my polish kit I'd planned to back sitting on my bed at home). That left me missing about 3 challenges. (I didn't have time to prepare anymore than 3 before we left ;-(
However, to my surprise, I discovered that there is pretty darn good 4G in the middle of BFM & A, AND the internet is drastically improved since the last time I was here. So of course I had to honor the up coming challenges which meant it was time for a polish hunt.
I was pretty excited and pleased to find the local Wal-Mart stocked with a nice variety (though I'm surprised they don't carry China Glaze?)
Anywho - I found 5 NYC Long Wearing colors, left to right - Times Square Tangerine Creme - Black Lace Creme, Big Apple Red Creme, French White Tip, and Broadway Burgandy Frost
1 Sally Hansend Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow
1 NYC In A Minute Quick Dry in High Line Green
and a fabulous Pure Ice called French Kiss.
All in all a good loot - about $10 for all of them and a set of 3 art brushes.

This should get me through the next couple of challenges, and my sister assures me when I get to her house, there's even more colors to choose from. I'm thinking that she might be my model for a couple of the challenges!

Tootles everyone, hope you are having a great Friday!! :-)

Repost of The Crumpets blog

A well written commentary on an issue I'm only now becoming familiar with. As a newcomer to the 'Nail World' I've been hearing snippets of what i have come to thinks of as 'The Days of Linderella', with some wonder and confusion. Indie nail polish and franken polishes are still new to me, however I'm ecstatic at what I've seen through various other blogs, with the brave souls that labor over such creations, with such unique creativity and style.
It is my sincere hope that these fabulous people are able to continue to explore their polish creativity and overcome what appears to be a rather harsh blow to the indie polish community.
I'm reposting Lady Crumpets blog simply because from what I understand of this issue, she is spot on. It is a very well written, void of negativity yet a clear sentiment of her disappointment with the events that have transpired, and as you can see from her blog replies, echoes many others.

Happy reading!

PCFC - June 19th - Balloons or Kites

I decided on kites for this challenge - inspired by the big kites I see on the beach at Ocean Shores, WA.
It's free hand, and didn't go exactly as I'd hoped, but I do love the boldness of the colors and their contrast so I decided to keep it. Being slightly obssesive at time, it will probably get it redone :-)
I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Let's Meet for the base
Sinful Colors Savage for the kite,
Essence Stamping Nail Polish in Black for the accents on the kite and
Wet n Wild Wild Shine in white for the string

Check out the other ladies amazing works of nail art!
