Day 25 Challenge - Fashion

Toady's challenge is inspired by a piece of fashion from musical My Fair Lady. Actually, it is inspired from the movie musical with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. If you've never seen it and you can sit through a musical, do watch it sometime - it's classic.
Here is  Eliza's dress from her very first outing with Prof.  Higgins and Col. Pickering. This was Eliza's first test of all the grueling work Higgins had put her through. Poor Eliza was stuffed into this fabulously ridiculous dress and hat that nearly makes her tip over.

And here is the mani that resulted from my reminiscing down memory lane in fashion. Hopefully the second picture gives a bit better view of the floral stamp I did as the lace on her gown.
I started with one coat of Sinful Color in Snow Me White, stamped with SC in Tokyo Pearl using BM 306 and SC Back in Black with CH 24 for the black striping and bow.  While I was just going to do my left hand for the challenge, I loved it so much I decided to make it my mani for today.  I doubt it will last long, as it's cleaning day, but it's worth it. :-)
Hope you like it! Don't forget to check everyone else that's participating in this challenge, or please add your link for this challenge below!

SoFlaJo Enchantment, Part 2

I'm finally getting around to getting the review of the SoFlaJo Enchantment done. Holy cow it's been a crazy few days and my blogging has suffered for it. Anyhoo, back to the review.
Enchantment has quickly become my favorite color changing top coat. From what I'm learning about the different kinds of polish, this is considered a duochrome polish because of it's ability to reflect different kinds of colors with the flecks used. It has an aqua base, per it's home site here .
So far, I'm really impressed with the versatility of this polish, if you're feeling like a minimalist, it can be worn alone, as seen in my first photo (sorry for the stubby index finger, it had a disagreement with the counter top and lost!)

One coat on my index, two coats on my middle finger, three on my ring finger, and 4 coats on my pinkie. I had no issue with the formula, it went on smoothly, and I was pretty impatient with getting it on, so it didn't wait very long in between coats - no bubbling or streaking of the previous coat
Here I decided to try some random colors - naturally I reach for the blues, I'm a bluey at heart. ;-)
My index is swatched with one coat of China Glace For Audrey, middle finger is one coat of CG in Turned Up Turquoise, ring finger is Wet n Wild Megalast in I Red A Good Book, and pinkie is WnW Megalast in On A Trip. As you can see, it is a true aqua base and favors the tints of the first two colors, but I'm thinking that the red would be a great base for a stamping idea. I intend to explore that again in another post.

This little guy was an afterthought, I was putting my polishes away getting ready to write this up and I saw my lovely OPI Jade Is The New Black and couldn't resist trying it. I love it - it's a perfect fit together, and I indend to do another mani with this combo.
So let me know what you think! This is my first actual review, so please feel free to lend me some tips on how I can improve with my writing. Bottom line is, I love this polish, and will probably be purchasing some more of SoFlaJo's products in the future.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Day 24 Challenge - A book

For today's challenge, which is inspired by a book, I chose New Moon. In case you can't tell, I kinda like the Twilight series. :-) Not a super hardcore fan, but I did enjoy them.
This mani is 1 coat of Ulta's Little Black Dress, stamped with  white and red stamping polish in SH 24.

Day 23 Challenge - A Movie

This challenge is for a mani inspiried by a movie, and I have chosen Twilight. I started with 2 coats of Nina in Burst my Buble and stamped BM 311 with China Glaze in Prey Tell. The apple is SE 18 in Wet n Wild Mega Last in I Red A Good Book.

Day 22 Challenge

I love Led Zeppelin! Stairway to Heaven is one of my favorites, so this mani was inspired by that song. The white I stamped on my ring finger under the cross doesn't show well in the this photo (I'm still learning to take better photos!)
I started with one coat of Nina in Burst My Bubble, the stairs are free hand in China Glaze Prey Tell, which is also stamped in SH 24

SoFlaJo Enchantment

Quick post!  This is SoFlaJo Enchantment from her Year of The Dragon Collection I bought from a silent auction. The site is here - SoFlaJo
Enchantment is described as 'with Aqua glitter and depending on your basecoat, shifts from gold/green to silver/green to blue.'
I have it here over Ulta's Little Black Dress, tipped with Sinful Colors in Super Nova- because I was too impatient to wait to swatch it solo, so I did my ring finger on my left hand in 1 coat and right hand in 2.  It's AMAZING!!!!
This polish is very properly named, it's enchanting! I can't wait to swatch it solo and try it with other coats! I'm lusting after several others of this collection (who am I kidding, I love the looks of ALL the Collections!
I was in a hurry with these pics, sorry for the blurriness in avance! The first picture is 1 coat over LBD, the second photo is 2 coats. Isn't it beautiful!!!

Day 21 - A color

This is my own littel creation - not a franken, just layered.
It's Sinful Colors in Let's Talk under Sinful Colors Let's Meet. I really like the color it produced.

Day 20 Challenge - Water Marble

This water marble was done with Sinful Colors in Dream On and Wet n Wild in Silvivor. This is my favorite water marble so far. My picture is really light, as I was playing with the different settings in my Instagram, and accidentally deleted my original.

Opps!! Daily Challenge Slacker

Well so much for scheduling posts!! Sheesh! I'm so frustrated that the one week I had everything organized and ready to be posted on time and it didn't post!!!
Guess it's catch up time, though I'm only doing a few. I'll save the others for another post.
The first one is Day 17 - Glitter - one coat of  NYC Big Apple Red with two coats of Sea Lore's Arista which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

This one is my Zoya Edyta with Ulta's Mint Condition for Day 18's Half Moons
My Day 19 challenge is Galaxy - This is one coat of Ulta's Little Black Dress, then I sponged on OPI Yodel Me On My Cell, used my dotting tool to dab some white for the stars (which don't show up).

Bike MS 150 Ride

I had such a great time today! My husband and I rode 70+ miles on our bicycles for Bike MS, which is a fabulous fabulous society that helps people with multiple sclerosis, from items that help improve their life, to sponsoring them at college, to education about the disease and support for them.
 Bike MS  is their website.
This is a serious, debilitating disease that can take a health adult/child from living life full throttle to barely being able to just take care of themselves and every stage in between.
I was excited to ride this ride, just because my husband did last year and loved the Cour d'Alene Trail; but in my fundraising efforts, a friend of mine sent me a Facebook  message to express their appreciation of my efforts for MS, because this friend herself has MS. I do know a couple of other people that suffer from it, but with this friend, it really hit hard.
I also discovered that for Washington state where I am, we have the highest MS ratio in the U.S. Nationwide, the ratio is 50 out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with MS, in Washington, its 150-200 to 100,000 people! That's far too many people.
After learning all this information, the ride wasn't just about cycling the miles, it was about remembering the people that suffer from MS and participating in something that could improve the quality of life for someone with MS, contribute to finding a cure one day for MS, and an expression of gratitude on my part for just being able to click my shoes into my bike clips and ride down the road without restrictions. Well, at least until my legs gave out and my butt was just done sitting on the seat ;-) Still, 70+ miles isn't something to sniff at, and I'm proud as hell that I was able to contribute and ride in this event. My husband and I, along with several of our friends, contributed $500 for the Bike MS, and let me tell you my friends, that was the BEST $500 ever raised/spent. And the people here are just amazing, such great camaraderie, no one's a stranger in the Bike MS events.
In the spirit of the event, I did a mani just for it.
I started with 1 coat of Sinful Colors in Savage, stamped with BM -21, and the Bike MS is in acrylic paint. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite, and I'm still rocking it tonight!! :-)
Happy Saturday everyone! What's on your nails for this weekend?

Polished Criminails - Challenge 8 - Metallic

This is 1 coat of Sinful Colors in Super Nova, stamped with Sinful Colors in Savage and BM-21.
I was really surprised how much I love the Super Nova!

Polished Criminails - Challenge 7 - Black n White

Today's challenge is with black and white - this is also a variation of a mani from Caitlins Creative Corner here.
I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors of Snow Me White, then sponged on NYC Black Lace Creme and stamped with Sinful Colors in Tokyo Pearl (I've forgotten the stamp, eek! I do know it's Shanty) Then I used a medium dotting tool to dot in white, then pink at the gradient line. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite. I really loved this mani, and it wore well for several days - I only took it off because I was doing a different mani, so I'm sure it would have lasted a couple days more.

Polished Criminails - Challenge 6 - Violet Nails

Well I'm super sad for my nails, as I broke just about every one of them off over the last week. So I'll be sporting shorties for a little while until they grow out. :-(
For today's challenge, violet, I choose my lovely Zoya Mina. This is one coat, no top coat and stamped in Essies Good As Gold with BM-309.

What's in the Makeup Bag

Hello my lovely blogger friends!
Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, it's been sheer craziness around here! Getting ready for school, potentially a new job, fall cleaning, home DIY and fix-its, whew!
Today's post isn't about nail polish, it's about makeup.
I was inspired by blogger Amber at Amber Did It! What's in the Makeup Bag? who did a post about her make up bag. It was really cool to what she used and what kind of style she had, so I decided to copy her. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? :-)
So I didn't take a picture of my actual makeup bag because frankly, it's lookin pretty ragged. I might be hitting up Target later today to check out their makeup bags and see what I can find.
Let's start with the basics -
I have a couple of foundations, and which one I use depends on how much time I want to spend on my makeup, or how my face is looking.
The first one that I've recently discovered is Almay Smart Shade, both the cream foundation and the pressed powder. I really like this product, it has great coverage, and doesn't make me want to scratch my face off like most cream foundations. It's a got a good SPF (which doesn't make me break out thank goodness!) and usually I just use it as a cover up, or to even out some red patches on my cheeks or forehead, then I use the pressed powder to kind of buff it out. The pressed powder is a bit lighter than the cream, so it works well to minimize the redness.
My other foundations are bareMinerals - and they are my absolutel favorite. I've been using them for years and it's the only product that I can rely on to never make me break out, and last all day. I have the bisque that I use for another cover up (for the really henious pimples or redness), the matt foundation, and the mineral veil. Usually I just use the matte foundation for every day, hanging around look and save the rest for if I'm going out.

The third photo is a shot of my brushes. I have another mish mash of brands for brushes. I do like the bareMinerals that came with the set that I bought, but recently I've stumbled upon Elf brushes at Target. They are super soft and super cheap! :-)  Kind of a scrunched photo, but left to right is my small concealer brush (bareMinerals) Elf complexion brush, Elf foundation brush, my bamboo Ecotools that I use for blush. Speaking of blush, mine is Cover Girl Cheekers in Tru Plum, and as you can see, it's been around for a while.
Eyes are pretty simple, my eyeliner is liquid, also by Elf in black, and my mascara is Maybelline Full n Soft in waterproof in Very Black. I love this stuff, it's the best mascara I've ever used.
Now usually I don't wear eye shadow, but my go-to is this Maybelline and I can't tell you the color scheme because the label is worn off :-) and my no-name shadow brush.
So there it is, that is What's in the Make Up bag of me! :-)
I hope you decide to do a post about your make up bag; if you do, let me know so I can check it out!
Happy Weekend everyone! :-)
